I've Moved

In May I moved into a two bedroom apartment in Caldecotte which is a five minute walk from where I work which is great!!  It’s a really nice fully furnished apartment with pretty much everything included in the price, but the price is quite expensive (£995 p/m) so I’m sharing the place with a mate from work.

The Prodigy

I went to The Prodigy Concert at Birmingham NIA on the 09/04/2009. What a night!!! Got a coach down there with some mates from work and hit the bars before the concert started.

We only decided to go to the concert a couple of weeks before the concert, so we could only get seats right at the back of the arena, but apart from only seeing tiny little dots on the stage, over-priced beers and having to walk up hundreds of steps with those beers (trying not spill them like all the people had done before me), the music was awesome!

It was great to hear the new tracks off the Invaders Must Die album, but it brought back some great memories when they played the old classics, and the concert ended with Outer Space – that’s one hell of a way to end a concert!

"The Scientist"

I found the patents for two of my Grandad’s (Frank Fox) inventions.  The first one is for a device similar to the Rubik’s cube, but my Grandad filed for the patent in 1970, quite a few years before Rubik.

This patent can be found here:  GB1344259A – Spherical 2x2x2

The second was for “The Box”, which was effectively a very powerful graphic equaliser, which measured the volume and depth of sound.  I can’t really do it justice from my poor explanation of it.  Granada Studios purchased a few to help them get the sound levels correct when recording Coronation Street.

Here’s his patent:  GB2134687A – The Box

Poor Percy

Great, so my girlfriend’s car (which she named Percy the Peugeot) window gets smashed by some kids playing with stones around the car park outside my house and happened to be a casualty.  The rear passenger window gets smashed to pieces and it turns out to be my next door neighbours son.

I suppose in some way it was good that it’s my next door neighbour as they have agreed to pay for the replacement which saves on an insurance claim, but I’m pretty sure Amy isn’t going to want to bring her car over again any time soon..

Trip to Scotland

Amy and I took a little break away to Scotland.  Amy’s not been there before and we thought it would be a nice break – and it definitely was (except for all the driving I had to do)!

We left quite late on the Wednesday afternoon and got stuck in a lot of traffic at Birmingham, so we only got as far as Abingdon that first day, but it was far enough to leave early the next morning and get to Edinburgh.  We went to the castle, had a look around and watched the One o’ Clock Gun being fired.  We had a look around all the parts of the castle and had a good time there. It's been a while…

… so I thought I’d write a little post

I haven’t posted anything for such a long time and well I’m a little bored so what the hell..

I got a new job at the beginning of July, working at a company called Infonic. I used to know one of the director’s from my first job at Beiersdorf (at that point Infonic was called Tokairo). I always wanted to work for Tokairo and so I feel it’s kind of fate, especially as I met my gorgeous girlfriend Amy just a few weeks after joining too :-) Quite a scary story really, as I didn’t know she was the daughter of another director here at the company when I started flirting with her! Thankfully after a little hiccup, I think the big boss man is OK with it all – well I haven’t received my P45 yet anyway.. :-P

I’ve been playing on my PS3 a lot (no change there), and am currently enjoying a bit of LittleBigPlanet and a lot of Resistance 2 online :-)

Christmas is nearly upon us and I’ve been thinking what to get people as usual, although this year I’ve actually bought quite a few presents already instead of my normal rush out on Christmas eve and buy it all then.

Got a new phone (I needed a contract phone as my phone bill to Amy alone was costing about £70 a month lol). It’s a very nice Samsung i8510 (Innov8). It’s got a great 8 megapixel camera and there’s not much it can’t do to be honest (even makes phone calls too!).

Apart from that, there’s not much else to say, I’m enjoying life a lot right now, part mainly to Amy and also my job. I’m looking forward to what 2009 brings!

Mog and the Smarties Tubes

A good friend of mine suggested that I get hold of a cat and some smarties tubes and make it walk like a robot – no names mentioned at all Ian Barrs, so don’t worry.  At the time I thought it was a stroke of genius, but later realised that it was something that Jimmy Carr came up with the idea of.

Anyway the results were pretty funny (IMHO).  Before anyone starts screaming on about Animal rights, Mog (the cat) was perfectly happy and purring the whole time – if he wasn’t we wouldn’t have done it rest assured.
