Big changes

So a lot has happened at the end of 2011 since I last posted.  Amy and I split up which was rough.  I never expected that to ever happen, and neither did anyone else judging by what friends and family said.  Unfortunately things weren’t working out and I’d have to put most of that down to me really.  I’d cheated on her back in February and instead of distancing myself from this girl, I wanted to be closer to her and Amy seemed to be 2nd best.  I’ve been sad about it all, but things sometimes just happen.

My Dad and his girlfriend got married and I’ll soon have a baby brother..  I’ve also got a step brother and sister too!  I’m still not really sure how to feel about it all, I wish my Dad and Ella all the happiness but no matter how hard I try I have found it a little difficult to accept.  Anyway congratulations to them both!

I got a new house mate to help with the rent, a girl I work with who’s very nice and can actually put up with the mess I cause in the kitchen and well everywhere in the house generally.

I got mugged and lost my keys, wallet, phone and dignity after a heavy night out.  I am not a big drinker, I never have been, sometimes I get lucky and survive a night out but it’s rare..  I’ve never really been drinking with a northern salesman before and I clearly didn’t understand the rules lol..

My Nan who had been putting up a very tough fight finally lost her battle against cancer on the 9th of January.  We had her funeral on the 19th and she had a lot of people attend which was nice.  I miss her loads but I’m glad she’s no longer suffering.

So lots of things have happened, and my head is still spinning a bit, but I’m hoping 2012 will be a better year!

Road trip to France

Less than a week to go until I go off to France on an unplanned road trip with Amy and a couple of other friends.  The only plan is that we’re travelling to France and hopefully camping out there.

I’m actually getting quite excited about it now because I’ve not been abroad in a few years now, but also I’ve never really been on a road trip before!  Who knows what could happen, we may not even be able to book into a campsite and be forced to all sleep in the car lol.

My basic plan is to hit up as many KFC’s along the route to grab those cleaning wipes to use as an emergency flannel lol.  I’m taking my camera too, there’s no way I’m missing out on some photo opportunities!

England my England

England my England

Goodbye to my England, so long my old friend

Your days are numbered, being brought to an end

To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that’s fine

But don’t say you’re English, that’s way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such

So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch

You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane

But don’t say you’re English ever again.

At Broadcasting House the word is taboo

In Brussels it’s scrapped, in Parliament too

Even schools are affected. Staff do as they’re told

They must not teach children about England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw

The pupils don’t learn about them anymore

How about Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ?

When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We are not Europeans, how can we be?

Europe is miles away, over the sea

We’re the English from England , let’s all be proud

Stand up and be counted – Shout it out loud!

Let’s tell our Government and Brussels too

We’re proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue

Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack

Let the world know – WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!!

House Viewing (round 2)

We went to view another house this evening that we’ve been holding out for. It’s a three bedroom detached in Caldecotte. It’s not available until the end of June (we’d hoped it would be May) but it’s well worth the wait!

It has an entrance porch that has three doors; one for the rear of the garage, one to a side entrance of the back garden and of course one to the house itself.

Inside is spacious with a nice kitchen and a living room/dining room. There’s also a small bathroom underneath the stairs in the hallway.

Upstairs is a small bedroom (which we’ve already earmarked to be our study), the main bedroom with on-suit bathroom, the 2nd bedroom which is another nice sized room and finally the main bathroom.

Everything is nicely decorated and modern looking. The garden is a nice size, it’s going to keep me busy! The kitchen has back door to the garden as well as the living room which has French doors leading out to the patio.

We’re really looking forward to moving in, shame about the delay but at least it gives us more time to save up for furniture..!

House Horror

This bank holiday weekend was supposed to be a nice weekend.  We had moved out of our old apartment and were moving into a new one.  We knew there were some minor problems with the property from the time we first viewed it, however we were promised they would be sorted by the time we moved in – they weren’t…

Another Milestone

Well it’s finally here, I’ve reached 30!!  I wasn’t exactly looking forward to this particular birthday because I guess I’m not as young as I used to be.  To be honest it’s just another number and I don’t feel like a thirty year old, I don’t act like one and I certainly don’t look like one :-)

I had a good time, Amy was excellent, she brought me breakfast in bed, forced me to wear a dressing gown and slippers she bought to make me feel old (didn’t get me a pipe just yet though) and even cooked me dinner.

All Geared up for Christmas!

It’s the last day of work, there’s snow on the ground and I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow!  It’s going to to be the first time I’ve spent a Christmas with Amy and we’re cooking our own Christmas dinner (which should be interesting).

I’ve finally got all the presents sorted out and I just need to wrap them.  Amy has wrapped everything because for some reason she seems to enjoy it.  She wasn’t interested in my idea of getting her to wrap her own presents I bought her, so I guess I’ll have to do that tonight :-)
