All Geared up for Christmas!

December 24th, 2009

It’s the last day of work, there’s snow on the ground and I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow!  It’s going to to be the first time I’ve spent a Christmas with Amy and we’re cooking our own Christmas dinner (which should be interesting).

I’ve finally got all the presents sorted out and I just need to wrap them.  Amy has wrapped everything because for some reason she seems to enjoy it.  She wasn’t interested in my idea of getting her to wrap her own presents I bought her, so I guess I’ll have to do that tonight :-)

Enjoying the Bank Holiday

September 1st, 2009

It’s been a pretty miserable weekend with the weather, but I was keeping an eye on it and it looked like Bank Holiday Monday was going to turn out alright.  So today Amy and I decided rather than laying around the house doing nothing at all, we’d go out and enjoy a nice sunny day out and about. Stepping up a level in Photography

August 26th, 2009

I like taking pictures and when I bought my Samsung Innov8 smart phone I was taking them whenever I could – as it had a 8 mega pixel camera (which was pretty much the only phone out at the time with a camera that good).  The lens was pretty good and so was the sensor (the bit that actually does all the work).  Unfortunately I was a plank and left it on the train on my way to work and funnily enough nobody was kind enough to return my £550 phone :-(

Been out with Amy for a year now!!

August 6th, 2009

Amy and I have been going out for a year now!!  It doesn’t seem that long (well that’s what I tell her anyway lol).

It’s been great so far and I have faith it’ll get even better!

I’ve Moved

July 19th, 2009

In May I moved into a two bedroom apartment in Caldecotte which is a five minute walk from where I work which is great!!  It’s a really nice fully furnished apartment with pretty much everything included in the price, but the price is quite expensive (£995 p/m) so I’m sharing the place with a mate from work.

The Prodigy

April 10th, 2009

I went to The Prodigy Concert at Birmingham NIA on the 09/04/2009. What a night!!! Got a coach down there with some mates from work and hit the bars before the concert started.

We only decided to go to the concert a couple of weeks before the concert, so we could only get seats right at the back of the arena, but apart from only seeing tiny little dots on the stage, over-priced beers and having to walk up hundreds of steps with those beers (trying not spill them like all the people had done before me), the music was awesome!

It was great to hear the new tracks off the Invaders Must Die album, but it brought back some great memories when they played the old classics, and the concert ended with Outer Space – that’s one hell of a way to end a concert!

“The Scientist”

April 8th, 2009

I found the patents for two of my Grandad’s (Frank Fox) inventions.  The first one is for a device similar to the Rubik’s cube, but my Grandad filed for the patent in 1970, quite a few years before Rubik.

This patent can be found here:  GB1344259A – Spherical 2×2x2

The second was for “The Box”, which was effectively a very powerful graphic equaliser, which measured the volume and depth of sound.  I can’t really do it justice from my poor explanation of it.  Granada Studios purchased a few to help them get the sound levels correct when recording Coronation Street.

Here’s his patent:  GB2134687A – The Box

Poor Percy

March 30th, 2009

Great, so my girlfriend’s car (which she named Percy the Peugeot) window gets smashed by some kids playing with stones around the car park outside my house and happened to be a casualty.  The rear passenger window gets smashed to pieces and it turns out to be my next door neighbours son.

I suppose in some way it was good that it’s my next door neighbour as they have agreed to pay for the replacement which saves on an insurance claim, but I’m pretty sure Amy isn’t going to want to bring her car over again any time soon..

Killzone 2 Review

March 1st, 2009

Well I’ve had a chance to play the game a bit now and I must say in general I’m impressed.  The graphics and gameplay are fantastic.  Many people say that Killzone 2 isn’t ground breaking for storyline but really, what FPS have ground breaking stories these days?  Not many I can tell you.  The story in my opinion isn’t what makes a good FPS, I’m not really playing it to get to know the characters, I’m playing it to shoot and blow things up mainly.  If it has a story then that’s an added bonus, and I think Killzone 2 does have a pretty reasonable story. Yay bought a new PS3

February 27th, 2009

Went to the shops and bought a new 80GB PS3 with Killzone 2 and Need For Speed Underground.  I just traded in Killzone 2 for Street Fighter 4 (as I’ve already got the Limited Edition copy) and I’m back in business!  Well apart from losing pretty much all of my save games :-(
